“He asked me the day before the prom and he came up and said ‘Mike said you said you’d go to the prom with me is that right?’ - That’s exactly how he asked me.”
“He was polite, he did act kind of goofy but he didn’t look like he had a mean bone in his body, he wasn’t two faced like a lot of kids were.”
“It came time to pin the corsage on and my mother had to do it because he was going so slow because he was afraid he was going to stick me with the pin.”
“We didn’t want to take pictures my mother dragged us over there to make us take the pictures.”
“We were there for a while, then he disappeared on me.”
“They wouldn’t let him back in (to prom) because he had gone to McDonald’s, he was so nervous at dinner he didn’t eat enough, he was still hungry.”
“He had the McDonald’s bag to prove it, showed me the cheeseburger wrapper’s ‘I saved them in case you didn’t believe where I was.’ ”
“He did apologize, he felt bad.”
“I think the whole night was over by maybe 11 or 12.”- Bridget Gieger, Jeffrey Dahmer’s prom date
How to: | ☓ - guilt trip my muse
Jeff has very little sense of remorse or guilt. More often than not, what is perceived as guilt is only a show. If pressured for a reaction, he as no problem faking contrition or shame, if not for the other person’s benefit, then to simply remove himself from the situation.
He rarely makes promises, but when he does, he tries his best to keep them. Whether to himself or to someone else, if he ever goes back on his word, he does feel some guilt and sometimes (however rarely) feels bad over his lack of self-control.

In 1988, Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested for molesting a 13 year old Laotian boy. He was initially sentenced to one year of incarceration, but ended up only having to serve 10 months of it. He was released March 1990, after writing this letter to the Milwaukee County Circuit Judge William Gardner, who was the judge that sent him to prison. The letter is dated December 10, 1989.
During my stay at CCC, I have had a chance to look at my life from an angle that was never presented to me before. What I did was deplorable. The world has enough misery in it without my adding more to it. Sir, I can assure you that it will never happen again. This is why, Judge Gardner, I am requesting from you a sentence modification. So that I may be allowed to continue my life as a productive member of our society.
Respectfully Yours,
Jeff Dahmer
