❝So where exactly do you live?❞ the boy questioned, oblivious to what he had gotten himself into. All other thoughts pushed from his mind, the only thing he could think of now was a warm bed possibly with Jeff right beside him.
He gestured vaguely. “Couple of blocks that way. I don’t know how well you know the city, but, there used to be an old train station right where I live.”
❝Hey, it’s fine. I didn’t really care much for him anyway—— if we’re being completely honest, I just liked the sex.❞ way to be straightforward, El. He chuckled a bit and absentmindedly ran his fingers along the fabric of his duffel bag.
He nodded and gave the guy a quick glance before making a right turn. “Fair enough,” he said with another smile. He certainly understood that well enough. With each passing block, Jeff was a little bit more glad he’d picked up Elton, and therefore a little bit more anxious to get home, as well.
A small sigh rung out from between his pink lips, gaze averting from the city to the driver—— or Jeffrey, since they’d been properly introduced. ❝Well, I was living with this guy I met… turns out he still had feelings for his wife so he threw me out. I have a home few states away, but it’s far too late to get on an airplane tonight.❞
"Oh.“ How intelligent a response. Jeffrey licked his lips and tapped a short rhythm on the steering wheel before speaking again. "Hey, that sucks. I’m sorry,” he said, hoping not to overstep any boundaries. The last thing he wanted was to chase this guy away before actually getting to know him. “I’m sure you’ll be okay, man.” Another pause. “I didn’t mean to dredge up bad feelings.” Soon enough he'd have him back in his apartment with a few drinks in him.
His lips twitched into a slight smile as he reached down and brushed his fingertips delicately over the petals of the dahlia. ❝Yeah… I’d be okay with that.❞ with nothing but some clothes and a few other personal belongings, he watched as the city lights appeared and disappeared through the window of this strangers’ car. ❝I’m Elton, by the way.❞
"All right, then,“ he responded, with another smile. The car was up and running once again in no time, Jeff settling back behind the wheel with an air of ease. "Nice to meet you, Elton. I’m Jeffrey.” Another pause slipped between them, and he broke it with, “So, mind if I ask what got you into a situation like this? I mean, you new to the city or something?”
